Diclum Elementary School pays tribute to one of its greatest teachers of all time

On April 30th, 2011, the Diclum Elementary School spearheaded the Necrological Service given by the Tobias Fornier School District in honor of the Late Sally S. Pelingon, 67, retired Master Teacher II and former Officer-in-Charge of Diclum Elementary School.

The service was held at the Dao Social Hall, 12 noon, and was attended by the retirees, active teachers from all over the district, school heads, former pupils, family members, and an over-crowding public.

Mrs. Pelingon has unselfishly served the District of Tobias Fornier for 38 years until she retired in January 1, 2004.  She was first assigned in 1965 at Igdurarog Primary School (Grade II), later at Dao Central School as a Grade VI adviser, and in 1979 at Diclum Elementary School where she had prime years of her teaching career.  She has been instrumental in many achievements of Diclum Elementary School, among them is hving named in 1993 as one of the country's most effective public elementary school.  Mrs. Pelingon was named as one of the Ten Most Effective Master Teachers in the Division of Antique for 3 consecutive years.  During the 1990s, she was largely involved in the pioneering of multi-grade school system in the Philippines led by DECS and UNICEF.

After her retirement, Ma'am Sally has continued to be supportive of Diclum Elementary School having loved teaching and the school so well.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 while still in active service.  After a healthy recovery of about eight years, her CA was discovered to have recurred in August last year.  She passed away on April 12, 2011 of respiratory failure due to her breast CA at Philippine General Hospital.
